Freeman's
Give Generously
Emily "Denny" and Irene Freeman lived a very humble life and prepared
a trust to give to those charities they believed were so well deserving, including
Ottumwa Regional Health Foundation.
Denny was born
August 18, 1908, in Ottumwa and Irene was born March 19, 1920.
The two were marrid on May 28, 1938. Denny worked for Saul Edmund
Furniture Co, Kiple and DePrenger Furniture Co. and retired in
1972 from Wausau Home. Irene too worked for Wausau Homes as well
as True Ins., retiring in 1989.
Denny and Irene
were members of the First Lutheran Church and Charter Members
of the Ottumwa (Men's and Women's) Bowling Associations. Denny
was also a member of B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge No. 347 and the American
Legion Post No. 3. while Irene was a member of American Business
Women's Association.
"The Freemans
lived very modestly and were humble people. They wanted to wait
to make these gifts after their death because they didn't want
all of the attention," stated Tammy Kosman, Trust Officer
at South Ottumwa Savings Bank. "They gave to charities they
believed as deserving and ones that in some way had been a part
of their lives."
The Freeman
Trust allotted $100,000 to the Ottumwa regional Health Foundation
for unrestriced funds. "The Freeman's wanted the gifts to
be used where they would be needed the most."
"We are
so appreciative of the Freemans and their gift," stated
Chad Wolbers, President of Ottumwa Regional Health Foundation. "It
shows that Ottumwa Regional had a positive impact on them during
their lives and we're very grateful they wanted us and others
to know of this fact."
